Model Flight tries to answer your questions about RC models. These come directly from our modelling staff at Model Flight.

Mode 1 vs Mode 2 Transmitters

Transmitter Stick Configurations:

Mode 1 - Throttle and Aileron Control on the Right Stick, Elevator and Rudder on the Left Stick.
This is predominantly used in Australia and Europe.

Mode 2 - Elevator and Aileron on the Right Stick, Throttle and Rudder on the Left Stick.
This is predominantly used in the United States.

There is no clear benefit to each configuration as everyone’s use and preference is different. Mostly it comes down to your friends and what they are already using so they can help you if required. A Mode 2 user cannot easily teach a Mode 1 flyer.
